Transcript

Ron Lyons (00:03):

Tell me about that. I'm not even gonna ask. I just want you to tell me, tell me about the kissing booth.

Karla Vargas (00:08):

Yeah, the kissing booth is gonna be we're gonna have hop there

Ron Lyons (00:12):

Hop the donkey or hop the councilman hop

Karla Vargas (00:16):

The donkey. Okay.

Ron Lyons (00:18):

Oops. Yeah, I'm saying I'm definitely not going to this kissing booth. If we've got the mayor and a city

council purchase, that is not gonna happen. Welcome to Celina radio.com. Recorded right here in Celina,

Texas, a quiet, little dusty, sleepy town that has absolutely nothing going on. Oh, but if that were still the

case, as you know, there's tons going on in Celina, Texas.

Speaker 3 (00:56):

Yeah,

Speaker 4 (00:58):

I'm back in my bag. Yo, my bag.

Ron Lyons (01:00):

Guys, welcome to CelinaRadio.com. And yeah, we've got all kinds of stuff going on in this town right

now. And in case you don't know what I'm talking about, it's political. And you know how politics can

take some of the best neighbors, best friends, and people who should be united, and it divides them.

And we can get into all of that stuff later. In fact, I've got quite a few episodes coming up where we're

gonna talk about all the politics and the things going on. We have invited all of the candidates for both

city council, mayor, and School Board to come on the show. They're not all gonna be on the show.

They're not gonna be on the show because I happen to have a very strong opinion about who needs to

be serving in this city. So, as you can imagine, those who I don't support, they're not gonna come on the

show.

Ron Lyons (02:00):

Now, do I think they should? Of course. I think they should. I mean, if you can't face me one citizen, how

are you gonna handle the job of being the mayor? How are you gonna handle the job of being on city

council? Excuse me. Tough. But that's for you to decide and you can decide that stuff with your votes.

Now, this isn't a political show. I'm not endorsing anybody on the show. I'm not going against anybody

on the show. It's not, it's not that sort of thing. I'll tell you my opinions on all that stuff very soon for

today, we're doing something very, very fun. We've got Karla Vargas, who, you know, runs the Donkey

Rescue over by Brooke Shires on the show today. And she happens to be the first person who's ever

been on the show twice. And she's got her friend with her today, and we know her as Marilyn Monroe.

And there's a little story to that. But you're going to hear all about this event that they're doing April 1st,

right here in Celina, Texas to raise awareness and some money for the donkeys at the Donkey and Horse

Rescue. It's going to be a fantastic time. So guys, sit back and listen to my conversation with Karla and

Marilyn

Speaker 5 (03:22):

At home. Cause none of y'all really,

Ron Lyons (03:31):

Guys, I am here today with someone that you know from the past, Karla Vargas, and she's been on

before you know her because she's got the donkey rescue, but today she's not here by herself. She

actually has someone here with her, and her name is Marilyn Davis, but I know her as Marilyn Monroe.

We'll tell you about that story in just a second. But guys, how are we doing?

Karla Vargas (03:53):

Doing awesome. Thank you for having us. Ron

Ron Lyons (03:56):

<Laugh>. Marilyn, how you doing? Doing

Karla Vargas (03:58):

Great today. Thanks.

Ron Lyons (03:58):

Are, are you nervous at all doing this or have you done a podcast before? I've

Karla Vargas (04:02):

Never done a podcast before.

Ron Lyons (04:03):

Well, you sound great and we're gonna have fun, so don't worry about it. Everybody that listens to this

show is awesome, so it's gonna be good stuff. Now you guys have an event coming up and that's what

we're gonna talk about a little bit today. But first of all, Karla, you've been here before and did you know

that you are now officially the first guest that's been on the show twice? What do you think about that?

I

Karla Vargas (04:25):

Love it. Thank you so much, Ron. Yes. For making this happen and having us again. Super

Ron Lyons (04:30):

Awesome. You are always a lot of fun to have on the show. And tell me a little bit about this event. What

is this deal that you've got going on?

Karla Vargas (04:39):

We have a Donkey Fest. It's our first fundraiser for the donkeys. And so we are super excited. It's gonna

be April Fools.

Ron Lyons (04:51):

April Fools. So April 1st, April 1st day you're gonna do it? Is there, is there a reason you chose that day?

Is it because it's donkeys and April Fool's jokes, or it just happened to work out? Yes.

Karla Vargas (05:01):

All the above.

Ron Lyons (05:02):

<Laugh>. All the above. Yeah. So, so tell me about the event. What exactly are you doing? So you're

gonna, I know you've got a place out there somewhere, like 1 34, something like that. Maybe it's at that

Christmas place, right? Yes. Yes. They're doing the Miracle on one 34th Street. So you've got that as a

venue, and you're doing this to raise money for the Donkey rescue. Is that the, the purpose of this?

Karla Vargas (05:24):

Yes. We are doing it to support all our donkeys in the house. We are currently taking care of over 65

donkeys.

Ron Lyons (05:33):

Wow, that is impressive. So you, you're right there on the corner and most people know who you are

and where you're located, but for people who don't, right there on the corner next to Brookshires,

you've got that little corner space and there's some banners out there and quite a few donkeys out

there. Yes. And so, so how are things going out at the rescue right now? Has everything been going

pretty well?

Karla Vargas (05:54):

It's going well. However, we have had, you know, with this weather, hot and cold. Hot and cold, we have

had a lot of babies sick. Right. So we're really struggling with a few in the hospital and, and Oh wow.

Ron Lyons (06:10):

I hate to hear that.

Karla Vargas (06:11):

Yeah. So, and then, but we're super excited that we're able to continue to help them and getting them

out of, out of their, their, you know, the kill their situations, getting them.

Ron Lyons (06:21):

Right. So they all come for the people who don't know and, and, and they can go back and listen to your

other episode, but basically you go all over Texas and you pull these donkeys out of these kill pins.

These, these donkeys for whatever reason end up in these kill pins and they're in a lot of trouble.

They're not going to make it if somebody doesn't come along and save them. So you pull as many as you

can out, you bring them to your rescue, they get any sort of medical treatment they need and, and, and

all of those things are taken care of. And then what happens? They get adopted out. Is that the ultimate

plan?

Karla Vargas (06:57):

Yes. We rescue, we rehabilitate and we rehome them. So those are our main you know, pillars of, of the

sanctuary.

Ron Lyons (07:06):

And you, you do all of this, you run all of this, I'm assuming an awful lot of your own personal money

and time, but you also run on donations and hence the reason for the event, right? Yes. Is to try and

raise money for these donkeys. And like you said, right now you've got like over 60 something donkeys

out there. So Marilyn, tell me a little bit about what you're gonna actually have out at the, at the event. I

know you've got probably like live music, probably some food. Gimme an idea of what can we expect

when we show up at this donkey event?

Speaker 6 (07:40):

Yes. So we've got this fun band called The Time Machine that's coming. We're super excited to hear

them play

Ron Lyons (07:46):

Time Machine. So I haven't actually heard Time Machine before. What kinda, what kind of music do they

do? It doesn't sound like they're a country band. What kinda do they, do you know what kind of music

they do?

Speaker 6 (07:56):

They do a little bit of everything. Carlin?

Karla Vargas (07:58):

Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>? No. Yeah. Well that was my special pick and I was blessed to have it done for,

for us. And they're an amazing band. They can play as just anything you can think of.

Ron Lyons (08:10):

Wow. Mm-hmm. <Affirmative>. So that sounds exciting. So Marilyn, what else are we gonna have out

there?

Speaker 6 (08:14):

So for our food, we've got the Groovy Taco company coming in there.

Ron Lyons (08:17):

Groovy Taco Company. Okay. That's a new one to me. Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>. So it is catered out

there and obviously they do tacos. So have you guys actually tried some of their food yet? Do you know

how it is? Okay, Karla. Ah, tell me how

Karla Vargas (08:29):

It's, I can't wait to talk about this one. <Laugh>, because I'm a chef, so I'm gonna go out, I mean, the best

Taco salsa store around here. Really?

Ron Lyons (08:38):

Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>. Really? Mm-hmm. <Affirmative>. Okay. Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>. That's

impressive. Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>. That would be good. So, so they're gonna actually have that out

there at the event. Is that one of the things they're gonna have on the menu?

Karla Vargas (08:46):

Yes, sir. It's gonna be tacos and nachos and the taco. So store are personally ta you know, taste him

myself. Nice. So nice. That was, that was a nice move. And I know we're gonna have a lot of people there

and the flavor may vary, but that's okay.

Ron Lyons (08:58):

Hey, that's okay. You know what, it's a, it's for a good cause. Yes. We're gonna have tacos. Yes. I'm

assuming we might have a bar. Is there gonna be a bar in Maryland?

Speaker 6 (09:06):

There is. We do have it's a cash bar.

Ron Lyons (09:10):

Okay. Cash bar,

Speaker 6 (09:11):

I believe we're gonna have beer, wine, and a few mixed drinks we're working on.

Ron Lyons (09:15):

Well, that sounds like a lot of fun. And so that everybody knows that it's gonna be a safe event. You're

gonna have a law enforcement presence. Yes. Yes. It's gonna be, it's, it's, it's not, not from what I

remember, it's not a family event, so it's not something you wanna bring the kids to. It's geared more

towards adults. So that means I can't personally come, of course, because it's, you know, it's an adult

event and, you know, I'm, I'm like a kid, so child, but Exactly. But so, so you will have some sort of a, a, a

tent or, or what are you gonna have set up out there on that property? For this event?

Karla Vargas (09:52):

We're gonna have a tent. Yeah. It's gonna be just bring your jeans and boots and just relax. Country. it's

for a good cause you're gonna have great music, great food friends and family. Of course we have more

surprises. Marilyn is on charge. The Monroes, you've got,

Ron Lyons (10:10):

You've got some, you've got some, you've got an auction, I believe both an online and an in-person

auction. So tell me about those.

Speaker 6 (10:18):

Yeah, so we have a silent auction, and that is, I'm working on getting that online. So if you don't actually

make it to the event, you can actually bid from your home. So

Ron Lyons (10:27):

What, okay, let's, let's start giving people some details here. So the auction, is it actually ongoing now or

will it start in the future closer to the event? When is that online auction gonna be ready to go? The

Speaker 6 (10:40):

Online auction will actually start day of the event. Okay. Okay. And I believe we've said it to start at 3:00

PM

Ron Lyons (10:47):

Okay. And people would go where, in order to see this online auction,

Speaker 6 (10:52):

It's called Give Butter, but we'll also post it on our website. Okay. What's as well as our socials.

Ron Lyons (10:58):

Gotcha. And, and so Karla, help me out. What's the Donkey Rescue website?

Karla Vargas (11:04):

Our website is donkey and horse rescue.com.

Ron Lyons (11:07):

So donkey and spelled out a n d horse rescue.com. Donkey and horse rescue.com. That's awesome. So I

know for a fact that you guys sold out a ticket and I also know that you're able to open it up a little bit

and get what, about a hundred more tickets now? So we are in a, we're in an odd time right now where

the event's technically sold out, but Marilyn, am I right? Did we get another hundred tickets that we can

sell now?

Speaker 6 (11:37):

Yes, that is correct. We're gonna open it up a little bit more. And we've had a lot of people ask us, Hey,

you're sold out, you know, we really want to come. So we've decided that let's take a look and see if we

have more space and we have opened it up today.

Ron Lyons (11:52):

That's awesome. What great timing. So if people wanna get tickets to this event, where are they gonna

go? To? Donkey horse rescue.com. And is that, is there a way on there that they can purchase these

tickets? Or, or how do they get tickets?

Karla Vargas (12:06):

Yes, they get tickets to our website. And so you have to click on events and the first fundraiser, donkey

Fest comes up and you just purchase your tickets through our website. Mm-Hmm.

Ron Lyons (12:16):

<Affirmative>. Okay. That's awesome. So it's April the first. What time does the event start?

Karla Vargas (12:20):

From four to eight.

Ron Lyons (12:21):

From four until 8:00 PM Okay. So we got four hours and I'm assuming we're actually gonna have some

real donkeys out there, right?

Karla Vargas (12:29):

Absolutely,

Ron Lyons (12:30):

Yes. Okay. Is there, are there any of the donkeys that I happen to know They're gonna be there?

Karla Vargas (12:35):

Yes. The Monroe special right here.

Ron Lyons (12:37):

Monroe Special gonna be there. Okay. So let's, let's talk about that real, real quick. So I, I said in the

beginning that I've always known you as Marilyn Monroe and knowing full well that your last name's not

Monroe, but Karla, tell me how in the heck did Marilyn Davis get the name Marilyn Monroe? I know

there's a story there.

Karla Vargas (12:56):

There is a story. So we have our ambassadors from, from the donkeys, our Frank Celinatra in Marilyn

Monroe. Wow. So Marilyn Monroe is this awesome very good looking donkey for, you know, to my eyes.

Ron Lyons (13:13):

Sure. No, I remember seeing She's gorgeous. Yeah. Yeah. She's a beautiful

Karla Vargas (13:15):

Donkey. And so I have taken her to the October Fest, and she's just super sweet, super, you know,

lovable. Everybody likes her. So when I met my friend Marilyn, right here, Davis, oh, I nicknamed her

Marilyn Monroe.

Ron Lyons (13:30):

So, so Marilyn Davis, how does it feel to be named after a donkey? Sorry, not after, not after the famous

actress, but after a donkey. So how does that feel?

Speaker 6 (13:41):

Well, you know, I love Carlos and it's, and we love Marilyn Monroe out on the field too.

Ron Lyons (13:47):

Exactly, exactly. So let me ask you this, Karla, do you encourage people to come over to that property

and park out there and interact with the donkeys? Or is it better for them to contact you and then to set

up a time and go out there? What's the best scenario for people? Because, you know, I do see cars pull

up sometimes, but I having some donkeys myself at my home, I know that sometimes there can be a

little bit of a risk like that. So what's the best scenario if people want to come visit Marilyn Monroe and

some of these other donkeys out there? For

Karla Vargas (14:19):

Sure. Yeah. I, well, you know, our donkeys are located next to Brookshire. So everybody goes to

Brookshire, see the donkeys, and they want to go pen him and stuff. And we're always open to have a

phone call and set up an appointment and show you all our super movie stars that we have out there.

<Laugh>, you know, we have the Lover Boys, we have Michael Boltons. Oh, wow. We're really cute

donkeys there too.

Ron Lyons (14:44):

So, and, and I happen to know that you have one special donkey out there named after one of our city

council people. His, yes. So for people who don't know, there is a donkey named after the councilman

named Andy Hopkins. And he got to, he got to like name a horse on a, on a little deal that we did

sometime back with the mayor and mm-hmm. <Affirmative> and stuff like that. And he ended up

naming one of the things out of this little challenge that we had. The police chief was involved, Uhhuh

<affirmative>, the mayor was involved, was a great event. A a a great deal to bring awareness to the

rescue. And Andy Hopkins named the Donkey after himself. Yes. Hop Hop. So is, so is Hop out at the

property now or where is Hop? Hop

Karla Vargas (15:27):

Got adopted and he's local. He's in Aubrey, but he will be the superstar at the Donkey Fest.

Ron Lyons (15:34):

Oh, really? So he's coming to the Donkey Fest Yes. Even though he's been adopted. That is fantastic. Yes.

I love that.

Karla Vargas (15:39):

We have a great relationship. We're blessed to have a great relationship with all our adoptees, you

know, the families and so we're, we're very blessed.

Ron Lyons (15:48):

That's awesome. I love that. So, and speaking of the mayor, from what I understand, he's gonna be kind

of like a keynote speaker or a guest of honor or there's something, he's got some role in this, in this

donkey event. And is he gonna, he's gonna come out there, is he gonna speak and, and be a part of this

event? Yes,

Karla Vargas (16:05):

Sir. He is actually one of our just special guests and we are just very honored to have him with us.

Ron Lyons (16:13):

And I know he's very supportive of the rescue. Yes. And obviously it doesn't hurt the rescue much to

have the mayor of the city at your Absolutely. Event, right? Absolutely.

Karla Vargas (16:24):

We're super excited. We have, we have a a great team around us and we're, we're super excited that

he's coming to support us of that

Ron Lyons (16:31):

Day. I think we should work really hard to find a special donkey in an honor of the mayor. Name it Sean.

Yes. Can we do that at some

Karla Vargas (16:42):

Point? I think it's great.

Ron Lyons (16:44):

I would literally come out there and feed some, some hay or something to a donkey named John

Karla Vargas (16:51):

<Laugh>. Sean, Sean will Beered,

Ron Lyons (16:53):

Just to be able to say that I did it. So, so you've got, so we've got music, we've got an online auction, but

you're, you're actually gonna have an auction at the event as well. So y'all tell me a little bit about that.

That sounds absolutely fantastic. Marilyn, you want to tell me about the, the auction that's actually

happening there? Karla, who, yeah, who's, who's in charge of the onsite auction?

Speaker 6 (17:16):

We do have the live auctioneer coming and he's gonna be auctioning off items in between the band

breaks.

Ron Lyons (17:25):

Oh wow. Nice. Very nice. So I'm, I'm assuming we've got some, some pretty decent gifts if we're gonna

have a guy there actually doing a live auction. Oh yeah. And, and by the way does this happen to be the

gentleman that works at the fire department during Yes, yes. It's our

Karla Vargas (17:41):

Good friend Keith Broom <laugh>.

Ron Lyons (17:43):

Okay. So Keith is gonna do it for people who don't know Keith, Keith is like a professional auctioneer and

Oh yeah. He is super good at what he does. Absolutely. So you've, so you've enlisted the help of Keith.

Can we talk a little bit about the things he's gonna auction off or is that a big secret right now?

Speaker 6 (17:59):

No, we can absolutely talk about some of the items.

Ron Lyons (18:02):

So give me, give me a little bit of idea what kind of things are we gonna have out there for auction

items?

Speaker 6 (18:08):

We have four very amazing Cowboys football seats. Oh

Ron Lyons (18:15):

Wow. That's nice. Along,

Speaker 6 (18:16):

Along with the parking pass.

Ron Lyons (18:18):

Okay. Super nice. Nice deal. That's a nice package.

Speaker 6 (18:21):

Yes. We're excited about that one. We also have Rangers tickets. Okay. That come with a hotel night's

stay.

Ron Lyons (18:27):

Oh wow. That just got a whole lot better. That's nice. Four tickets too,

Speaker 6 (18:30):

Right? Yeah, four tickets.

Ron Lyons (18:32):

Nice.

Speaker 6 (18:33):

We have some diamond jewelry.

Ron Lyons (18:34):

Diamond jewelry earrings. Okay. Wow, we're getting big time now.

Speaker 6 (18:38):

Yeah, we got earrings and a ring. Okay,

Ron Lyons (18:41):

Nice. Nice Monroe style too. Monroe style. I like it.

Speaker 6 (18:46):

Buff City in the Square. Uhhuh <affirmative> also gave us a, a beautiful basket,

Ron Lyons (18:50):

So I absolutely love Buff City soap. It's just crazy like when you walk down that sidewalk, if people are

going in and out of those doors, the smell just comes out and it literally pulls you in. So is it weird that

I'm a guy and I and I actually love Buff City soap?

Speaker 6 (19:07):

Not at all.

Ron Lyons (19:08):

I mean, I literally can't tell you how much money I probably spend in there. Of course I do all the

masculine stuff. Right. And they've got some really awesome things. And from what I understand, you

guys are actually selling some of their soap now, is that right? Yes.

Speaker 6 (19:21):

We actually created our own line of soap there. Yeah. And we came up with the color combination.

Nice. We came up with the scent that we wanted. Very,

Ron Lyons (19:31):

Very cool.

Speaker 6 (19:32):

And we'll be selling our soaps at Donkey Fest

Ron Lyons (19:35):

At the da. Is it something that's also gonna be on your website or is this just uniquely for the donkey

event that you have this

Speaker 6 (19:42):

Soap? We, we might put it on the website. I hope to

Ron Lyons (19:45):

Authorize

Speaker 6 (19:45):

It.

Ron Lyons (19:46):

Yeah, no, that would be fantastic. I'd love that. So do you happen to have a name for it yet? Cuz I can

think of a few creative names because everybody knows Donkey and As So <laugh>. I wasn't, I wasn't

gonna say it, but No, I was gonna say it. Yeah, I would love to have That would be fantastic. So that's, so

that's great. So you've got this, this Gift basket deal from Buff Shop. What else do we have?

Speaker 6 (20:15):

We've got some good baskets from other stores in the Celina Square. We've got one from Tender

Ron Lyons (20:20):

Tender that is always a great place to go. I love me some tender. Yes,

Speaker 6 (20:24):

We've got one from Toast at Walnut. That's

Ron Lyons (20:27):

Good. That's awesome. Love, love all of Joey's stuff over there. It's fantastic. Yeah, it

Speaker 6 (20:31):

Is a terra mania. Wow. Okay. Has given us an amazing floral arrangements.

Ron Lyons (20:36):

Okay, so Tara Manini, they were on the show recently. Oh yeah, they were fantastic. So great people.

I'm very, very happy that they're associating with this deal too. They're, they're just awesome people

and anything that they give you for the auction is going to just be, you know, top notch. Very, very

awesome stuff.

Speaker 6 (20:55):

Beautiful arrangement. Yes.

Karla Vargas (20:57):

We also have a airplane ride.

Ron Lyons (21:00):

Oh, an airplane ride, okay. Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>. Well that's, that's unique and different. That's very,

very cool.

Karla Vargas (21:05):

Yes, we have on top of that we, the Bridges give us for golf.

Ron Lyons (21:11):

Okay. For

Karla Vargas (21:12):

Fun for players. Yeah. Nice. We got a night at the premium room at the Staler in Dallas.

Ron Lyons (21:17):

Oh really? Okay. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>. Okay. Mm-Hmm. <affirmative>. That's a, that's a big deal.

That'd be like a great date night type deal or something

Karla Vargas (21:23):

Romantic. We can get away.

Ron Lyons (21:24):

Absolutely. Mm-hmm. <Affirmative>. Yeah, that would be fantastic. How fun is that?

Karla Vargas (21:27):

Yeah, Papa Gao, summer moon, you know, a lot of this, this

Ron Lyons (21:31):

Some of the different shops on the square. Yes. Some of the different restaurants and stuff. And we love

Our Town Square and they love getting behind different things like this and helping out. So That's

awesome. I'm very, very happy about that. So what else? Anything else that, that you can mention right

now?

Speaker 6 (21:47):

Yeah, we've got Celio Beauty Bar gave us a gift certificate.

Ron Lyons (21:50):

Nice. I need that one. No, I'm just kidding.

Speaker 6 (21:53):

<Laugh>, they do wonderful facials.

Ron Lyons (21:55):

They can't help me. So that's I won't be bidding on that one. I, I might go for one of the other deals, but

Karla Vargas (22:02):

Celina Star.

Ron Lyons (22:03):

Celina Stark love me some Celina Star. Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>. That's good. So you've got a lot of

support from a lot of the local businesses. That's fantastic.

Karla Vargas (22:12):

Yes. Pamper Peach. Well that's one of my friends. Yeah. Nice,

Ron Lyons (22:16):

Nice.

Karla Vargas (22:17):

She's gonna pamper us over there too. Some are Moon

Ron Lyons (22:20):

<Laugh>. See you've got a lot of people, a lot of gifts, a lot of different things that will be up for auction.

Some online, some in person. And I'm assuming some of those bigger items are probably gonna be, you

know, at the actual event. But either way, what a fantastic way to raise money for these little donkeys

who had no idea that their life was about to wind down. They were in a kill shelter and now people are

actually out here bidding on airplane rides and soap Yes. To help save their lives.

Karla Vargas (22:53):

Yes. We're gonna probably have a, a donkey for live auction as well.

Ron Lyons (22:57):

A donkey for live auction. <Laugh>. Okay. Don't tell my wife that. Or we're probably gonna end up

winning. Yeah, that's awesome. I was

Karla Vargas (23:04):

Gonna say that. Yes. Should I say that? Should I not? No, it's public.

Ron Lyons (23:08):

That's so awesome. So you're saying kind of laid back, jeans, boots, that sort of thing. Come out for a

good time. Meet some of the donkeys out there. Get to meet some of the people from the city,

neighbors, friends, people like that who are gonna beat the event and it's all for a good cause. So how

much do tickets cost?

Karla Vargas (23:28):

They are $50 a piece.

Ron Lyons (23:30):

$50 a piece. That's good.

Karla Vargas (23:31):

And that includes your food, your non-alcoholic beverage.

Ron Lyons (23:35):

Well, very good. Very good. That's nice.

Karla Vargas (23:37):

Yeah. We're also gonna have a kissing booth

Ron Lyons (23:40):

Gonna Oh, okay. Sean's not gonna be in there, right?

Karla Vargas (23:43):

Yeah, we're gonna have a little Sean in there. <Laugh>? No.

Ron Lyons (23:46):

Okay. I'm not doing, oops. I'm not gonna do the kissing booth, but is it a tell me about that. I'm not even

gonna ask. I just want you to tell me, tell me about the kissing booth.

Karla Vargas (23:55):

Yeah, the kissing booth is gonna be we're gonna have hop there. Um-Huh.

Ron Lyons (24:00):

Hop the donkey or hop the councilman hop

Karla Vargas (24:04):

The donkey. Okay.

Ron Lyons (24:06):

<Laugh> who I'm saying I'm definitely not going to this kissing booth if we've got the mayor and a city

council person, that is not gonna happen. But so So is it a donkey kissing

Karla Vargas (24:14):

Booth? It is a donkey kissing booth. Oh wow. Yeah. Okay.

Ron Lyons (24:17):

Mm-Hmm. <Affirmative>. That is awesome. That's okay. That's

Karla Vargas (24:20):

Gonna be awesome. We have a lot of miniature donkeys that they have been adopted from the past and

they're coming just to be big supporters with us. I'm gonna have Dixie and Princess Diana. They're our

founders of the organization. Nice. Of course. Nice. Supporting our first event and we have the Monroe

of course. Right. Everybody will get to meet Monroe there. That's

Ron Lyons (24:42):

Super awesome. Yeah, I think that's awesome.

Karla Vargas (24:44):

Yes. And probably a couple more. It

Ron Lyons (24:47):

Sounds like a great event. I like this. So would your idea be that this is the first one and that you would

continue this annually? So are we looking at the first annual right now? Is that the idea? Yes,

Karla Vargas (24:58):

I am looking forward for a lot more years to

Ron Lyons (25:02):

Come. Okay, well that's awesome. We love having you in town. We love having those donkeys right

there. Everybody knows about 'em. And what a great and fantastic way to raise awareness for this event

and I'm gonna wish you a lot of success with it. I'm gonna be there myself, Mel. Thank you. I'm glad you

opened up the tickets because I have been very busy and I have not actually purchased mine yet, but I'm

gonna do that today. So if you released another a hundred tickets. Yes, officially as of right now there's

only 98 because I'm about to get two of them. So you can go to the website again is Donkey Donkey and

ta rescue.com com. Pretty much everything that a person might need is gonna be on that website. So

there's an events link and then it just kind of follows from there.

Ron Lyons (25:46):

So I am absolutely looking forward to it, Marilyn, I know you're gonna be there. It's gonna be a lot of fun.

I'm looking forward to the tacos. I'm looking forward to the music. I'm looking forward to kissing a

donkey. Yes. And we are gonna have a good time. So guys come on out to that event. Be sure and grab

your tickets beforehand. There's not gonna be any at the door sales. Correct. If you've, you've gotta kind

of manage the number of people. So we're probably not gonna have at the door sales, so get your

tickets now, go online, grab 'em and come on out. It's for a wonderful cause. It's gonna be, hopefully the

weather that day is fantastic. Yeah, it's very, very close. It's just up there kind of north of town over

there, kind of out by the high school out in that direction. One 34th. They hold that big Christmas deal

there. A lot of people know about that. So that's where you're gonna be and you know what, show up

and have a good time and for a good cause. And guys, that is Karla Vargas and Marilyn Monroe.

Ron Lyons (26:54):

Guys, what did you think about Karla Vargas and her second appearance on CelinaRadio.com?

Ron Lyons (27:05):

She's got a fantastic event going on April the first. Like she said, the mayor's gonna be like a keynote

speaker, so come out, meet the mayor, get to know him a little better, listen to some fantastic music,

get you some really, really good food and have a really good time. All the while helping out these little

donkeys that if it weren't for the efforts of Karla Vargas, Marilyn Monroe in so many of you, the

volunteer and help out there, these little donkeys wouldn't stand a chance. So it's a fantastic cause

Guys, I'll be there. I'll be recording. I will be doing my broadcast live. It's gonna be an awesome time.

And now let's talk about what's coming up on some future shows. Now, while I was actually recording

this episode, we had quite the turn of events tonight. We actually had a candidate come out and tell

some wise. I know that's odd, isn't it? The difference is I know the truth. I know the truth real well, and I

guess I'm just gonna have to share that truth with you. But we'll save that little bit of truth for a future

episode. So guys, as always,

Ron Lyons (28:45):

Thank you for tuning in to selena radio.com. Stay safe and God bless.
